Saffie had a fit last Summer & we were hoping it was a one-off. Sadly she had one in Jan this year & another in Feb. Our last Collie Poppy died at 20 months due to epilepsy so we were aware of what had to be done. Saffie got thru a load of tests at the specialist vets last week & nowt has been found growing in her brain, her liver is good too. She does however have epilepsy & is on medication. This medication is making her a bit ’stoned’ for want of a better word, she is wobbling about the shop, tail wagging still, so thats good news. On the down side, she has temporarily reverted back to being a puppy & is a little willful! Please bare with me on this, it is temporary & she should be ok in a couple of weeks, the medication is for life, but she should adjust to it.

A few people I know have said that I have over-reacted, she had an MRI scan, a spinal fluid check (back of neck shaved!) & a liver scan (shaved tummy!). Well, to those people, I say this… since my Poppy died, I’ve always had in the back of my mind the awful thought of  ‘could I have done more?’ This time I am taking no chances with our beloved Saffie & I don’t care what these ‘friends’ think. My real friends & wonderful customers adore our little Saffie & they know that I would go to the ends of the Earth to look after her.

Life is all about choice & in this life we are lucky to have this luxury. When you are ‘fat’ these choices get smaller, there are many reasons why people are ‘fat’, physical, emotional or just plain piggy, but it doesn’t matter how you became ‘fat’, you are, and that’s that. Clothing has always been a problem for me because I am ‘fat’. I used to shop at large lady shops but I got fed up with being served by skinny people so when I 1st got Magik Earth, I decided that one day, I would stock plus sizes…and that day has come!

When you go into a shop to look for clothes & you are ‘fat’, you find yourself 1st looking for a size that will actually fit you, it may not be the colour or style you want, but you are so grateful that you can squeeze into something, that you buy it anyway. You dont feel good about it, you feel cheated, singled out for being ‘fat’ & that makes you unhappy…(well, that is how I used to feel).
